8b. Synchronization — Restrictions and Disclaimers
The Synchronization feature ("Sync") allows authenticated Solo and Studio users to connect a MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 broker account for read-only synchronization of trade history. This section governs your use of Sync and applies in addition to the general Terms above.
Residency restriction
Sync is not offered to residents of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom while we complete our compliance review under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for credential-storage processing. Before connecting a broker account, you must affirm by self-attestation that you are not an EEA/UK resident.
By using the Sync feature, you represent and warrant that:
- You are not a resident of an EEA Member State or the United Kingdom at the time of your initial connection;
- You will disconnect any connected broker account if your residency status changes to one of these jurisdictions; and
- You understand that we may detect potential residency changes via subsequent IP-country logging, and that we may pause and eventually disconnect accounts where multiple EEA/UK sign-ins are observed without explicit confirmation from you.
The remainder of FXOptimize (backtest analysis, Pass Lab, the main analyzer flow) is fully available to EU/UK users — only the Sync feature is restricted. The restriction is feature-specific, not Service-wide.
Read-only access — disclaim of trading or fund-movement capability
Sync uses your broker's investor (read-only) password. This password, by design, does not grant the ability to:
- Place, modify, or close trades on your account;
- Deposit or withdraw funds from your account;
- Modify your broker account settings, leverage, or risk parameters;
- Access your trading password or the full broker portal.
If you provide us with a trading password (rather than an investor password) by mistake, we are still structurally limited to read-only operations on the data flows we control, but we strongly recommend you immediately replace any trading password you may have shared and re-connect with a freshly generated investor password.
Data accuracy disclaimer
Sync displays data as reported by your broker's MetaTrader server. We do not independently verify the accuracy of broker-reported figures. Specifically:
- If your broker re-states historical trades (e.g., after a server-side correction or rollback), our cached snapshot may lag behind for up to one sync cycle (5 minutes by default).
- If your broker server is in an unusual timezone, we normalize timestamps to UTC for storage and display them in your local timezone for readability. Edge-case discrepancies (DST transitions, weekend gaps) may produce small visual offsets.
- Our drift detection and per-EA breakdown computations are based on the data your broker provides; we cannot detect or correct for broker-side errors, slippage misreporting, or commission-structure changes.
For tax, regulatory, or dispute purposes, your broker's official account statement is authoritative — not our Service.
Sync availability and reliability
We make reasonable efforts to maintain a 5-minute sync cadence, but this is a best-effort target, not a guarantee. Sync failures may occur due to:
- Broker server outages, scheduled maintenance, or weekend closures (we silently retry on the next cycle);
- Network-edge issues at our infrastructure provider or your broker's infrastructure provider;
- Broker-imposed rate limits or IP restrictions (we will notify you via the dashboard);
- Two-factor authentication added to your broker account after the initial connection (currently not supported — sync will pause and we will email you).
Sync downtime does not entitle you to a refund or service credit. Solo and Studio billing continues regardless of sync availability for any individual broker account.
No financial advice; no rule-violation alerts
Sync is a data-display feature. It does not, and is not intended to, provide:
- Real-time alerts when you approach or breach propfirm drawdown limits, profit targets, consistency rules, or news-trading windows;
- Trading recommendations, entry/exit signals, or risk management advice;
- Compliance monitoring or violation prevention for any propfirm challenge.
You remain solely responsible for monitoring your own trading activity against your broker's and propfirm's rules. The drift detection feature compares your live performance to a backtest baseline you previously uploaded — it is statistical retrospect, not forward-looking guidance.
Disconnection and data deletion
You may disconnect any broker account at any time via the Settings tab. Disconnection triggers immediate hard deletion of:
- Your encrypted investor password;
- All synced trade history for that account;
- Any EA-name mappings you defined for that account.
This deletion is permanent and not recoverable. The self-attestation audit-trail timestamp may be retained for up to 7 years per the Privacy Policy.
